Today, 1,200 people were vaccinated against COVID-19 at a drive-thru clinic in Elk Grove.
The mass vaccination clinic was held by the Cosumnes Community Services District and Elk Grove Unified School District with support from the Sacramento County Public Health Department, Elk Grove Police Department, Sacramento County Sherriff’s Office, and dozens of volunteers.
Those vaccinated included Sacramento County residents in Phases 1A and 1B of the county’s vaccination plan: healthcare workers, long-term care residents, staff at specialty clinics, law enforcement and emergency services personnel, and individuals age 65 and older.
“Just over one year ago, we were made aware of this deadly virus. Since then, nearly 46,000 Californians are no longer with us. Within our country, over 475,000 people have suffered the same fate. All of their families are forever changed,” said Cosumnes Fire Chief Felipe Rodriguez. “Today, the worry regarding themselves or a family member becoming ill with this disease has subsided for 1,200 people.”
This event took place in the parking lot of Cosumnes Oaks High School (8350 Lotz Parkway, Elk Grove, CA). Future vaccine clinics hosted by the Cosumnes Community Services District Fire Department will depend on vaccine availability. Updates will be posted on the District’s website and Facebook page.
