Water Fitness Classes

Water Aerobics

Water Aerobics is quickly becoming the top adult exercise program in the nation. With ease of motion and limited resistance it provides a great healthy alternative to traditional impact aerobics. All classes are taught by trained instructors.

  • Ages 16+
  • Aqua belts and barbells are provided
  • Participants need to bring their own water noodle

Classes Offered

We offer a variety of classes that will meet your independent health and wellness needs. Deep Water classes are offered year-round while the shallow water classes are offered May through November.

This non-impact class offer participants the freedom of movement through water without touching or standing on the pool bottom. With a combination of exaggerated and quick movements it will give you a total body workout. This class is great for cardiovascular exercise or helping to treat muscle and bone injuries.

Pre-requisite: Participants must be able to swim 25 yards unassisted without equipment.

Location: Elk Grove Aquatics Center (9701 Big Horn Blvd.)

This course is ideal for runners or participants recovering from injury, but looking for a low-impact workout. This class offers the benefits of running with less impact on the body. Participants' goals will be to increaase cardiovascular conditioning against water resistance in 3.5 feet of water. Swimmers will move against the current of the Lazy River at the Elk Grove Aquatics Center while focusing on speed and power intervals. This class may utilize a flotation belt and other equipment.

Participants need to bring their own water noodle.

Holidays - No Class

No water aerobic classes will be scheduled on the following dates due to holidays, pool closures, or swim meets:
  • December 16th- January 1, 2020 (Holiday Break)
  • January 20, 2020 (Martin Luther King Jr. Day)
  • February 17, 2020 (Presidents Day)
  • May 25, 2020 (Memorial Day)
  • July 3, 2020 (Independence Day Observed)
  • September 7, 2020 (Labor Day)
  • October 12, 2020 (Columbus Day)
  • November 11, 2020 (Veteran's Day)
  • November 26-29, 2020 (Thanksgiving Break)
  • December 21st- December 31, 2020 (Holiday Break)
