PARK DEVELOPMENTThe CSD follows a 10 step process to plan, design, and construct park projects. On average, it requires 2 years and 3 months to complete a small park project, 3 years and 6 months for larger projects. Depending on the project, these timelines can vary. For more, view the CSD Park Planning Process.

HELP PLAN YOUR PARKS

Buscher Park

Join your neighbors and CSD staff to develop a conceptual master plan for Buscher Park, a 2.3 acre mini-park located at Matina Drive and Willard Parkway in the East Franklin area.

The CSD is planning two design workshops. The first meeting is for the community to discuss and generate ideas for the design of the park. Staff will develop a consensus master plan based on these ideas, which will be presented at the second meeting.

Meeting #1 - Initial Park Design

Meeting #2 - Present Concept Park Design
Thursday, September 30, 2010 at 6:30 pm

Meeting Location: Carroll Elementary School, 10325 Stathos Drive

Van Doren Park Extension

Van Doren is located on Neponset Drive in East Elk Grove. The CSD thanks the residents who attended the design workshops. Staff evaluated suggestions and incorporated ideas into a final design of the park. Please view the Conceptual Master Plan below.

The park is on Step 5 - Design Development and Construction Documents.

Derr-Okamoto Community Park (formerly Fieldstone)

This 21-acre park is located at Mainline Drive and Ridgerock Way in East Elk Grove. The CSD is currently developing phase one of this project, which is 12 acres. Two workshops were held and community input was taken to create the conceptual master plan. The master plan was approved by the CSD Board of Directors on June 3, 2009.

This project remains on schedule and is now in Step 6, Plan Review and Permits, of the park planning process. Zone 11, the East Elk Grove Landscape and Lighting Benefit Zone, has sufficient funds to maintain this park when complete.

Jordan Family Park (formerly Vista Creek)

This 1.7-acre park site is located at Jordan Ranch Rd. and Didorwill Ct. in Eastern Elk Grove. Two workshops were held and community input was taken to create the design. The CSD Planning Division prepared the conceptual plan based on citizen input and CSD Board direction and presented it to the community on September 25, 2008.

CSD Planning division staff received subsequent comments from the public suggesting the inclusion of a basketball court. Staff then prepared plan options 2A and 2B for discussion and consideration at the CSD Board meeting on November 19, 2008. Several residents attended the meeting and spoke both for and against the inclusion of a basketball court. Ultimately, the CSD Board of Directors unanimously approved Plan Option #1.

This project is now in Step 7, Bid and Award of Contract, of the park planning process. Via a ballot measure, the residents of the Vista Creek Subdivision established the Vista Creek Park Assessment District, a Subzone within Zone 3 (Elk Grove West Vineyard Landscape and Lighting Benefit Zone) in March 2009. This Assessment District will provide adequate funds for park maintenance when the park is complete.
